AUTONOM - Symposium on Artificial Intelligence in the Performing Arts

03. December 2021 - Online @ Gather.town

By introducing the special funding program AUTONOM, the Fonds Darstellende Künste sees it as its aim to create connections between artistic production, scientific questions and societal challenges in order to continue inspiring debate about relationships between human/machine/algorithm.

On December 3rd 2021, the Fonds was offering space to all artists and collectives supported by the AUTONOM program in a hub for knowledge exchange, artistic discourse and interdisciplinary networking designed specifically for the event. Together with invited experts from the arts and sciences, the following central issue was discussed: How can the performing arts and AI research mutually benefit each other, and what insights could result from this interaction? What relevance does the implementation of autonomously learning and acting technologies have, and what new work structures or ethical and political challenges will result for the performing arts?
